Feeling crafty (or just cold?)

The hustle and bustle of the holidays are over and it's time to (theoretically) hunker down for the cold winter months...but what's a girl to do with all this extra energy?  As it turns out, there is lots that can be done!  I know some people who, in the winter, turn to knitting - it's a good "hunkering" activity, and if you are knitting a blanket you are soon able to stay extra cozy while you work.  Try as I might, I am no knitter, but here are a few other DIY projects that already have my creative wheels turning!

These cone people are just too much (in a good way) - I see puppet shows in our future...

As a child I love, love, loved playing with felt boards and cannot wait to introduce Ella-Bean to this imaginative fun!!!

So far my felting has been a giant fail...but this tutorial seems very doable (we'll see!)

New mini-comforter and pillow made from an old comforter...brilliant (I have an extra just waiting for a new life in Ella-Bean's room!)

According to Ella, owls make the same sound that squirrels and rabbits make...perhaps this little lovely will finally convince her otherwise (with Mama-made noises accompanying, of course!)

It's not too early for a felt board. Remember how I covered the back of that dresser with felt. It was a huge space for the kids to play on, and was easy to "expose" or hide.

Bean is ready for "giant" circles, squares, triangles, rectangles, stars, and of course...hearts <3

It's quick work to cut out groups for matching shapes, colors, sizes, which then can lead to later patterning.

Ahhhh...the brain of a early childhood teacher....now, where's my felt bucket?

I never had a felt board growing up (but now wish I did) but I did have those dolls that you can snap on and off different outfits.

Kinda like:

only the dolls were flat so they laid on their backs. They were from the eighties and of course it is the only thing that I have never been able to find on the internet.
